SB856 Mass transit; makes numerous changes to administration of and revenues for transit. This bill includes a gas tax floor for Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads, was passed 25-15 by the Senate and has been referred to the House Appropriations Committee.
HB1539 Mass transit; establishing various Funds to improve transportation. This bill proposes $105 million funding by redirecting existing Northern Virginia transportation funds and caps Metro operating budget increases to 2%,. was passed by the House 78-21 and has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
HB768 Motor vehicle fuels; sales tax in certain regions of the Commonwealth. This bill, providing a gas tax floor for Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads, was passed by the House 84-15-1 and has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee.

Preference for the provisions of SB 856;
Support of the gas tax floor in both SB 856 and HB 768;
Concern about taking transit funds to cover other transit needs rather than using methods of financing such as the earlier proposed sales tax on ride services, e.g. Uber and Lyft (stripped from SB856);
Support for a strong Metro which provides $600 million each year for Virginia’s budget resources;
Concern about the lack of attention to the “fiscal cliff” which will affect all of Virginia’s transit services, including bus replacements and other transit maintenance, and the local and statewide economy.
