League Day at the General Assembly is an amazing experience. Sitting in the Senate or House gallery and being recognized by the Lt. Governor or the Speaker of the House is something you’ll never forget. It’s exciting and it’s an honor to represent the League. It’s a short walk from the SunTrust Building (WLRT) to the Capital and again from the Capital to the Berkeley hotel (downhill too). This is a great opportunity to invite a friend; someone from another organization (e.g., VAratifyERA, OneVirginia2021); a relative; your knitting club, bunco, mahjong, tennis or golf partners; or a neighbor, to the WLRT and to stay for the networking lunch after recognition at the General Assembly.
You will meet other League members and their friends from across the Commonwealth and you’ll enjoy a delicious “Italian Feast.” It’s a great time to share your experiences of visiting with your representatives, get tips from other League members, and get updates from the LWV-VA lobbyists. The WLTRs (8:30 – 9:30 in SunTrust Building) and the League Day lunch (Berkeley Hotel) are open to all. Come and bring your friends. Please remember to register all who will be attending.
Linda Garvelink, 1st Vice President, LWV of Virginia
Put Feb. 6th on your calendar and make your luncheon reservations NOW for an exciting day in Richmond. It starts with the weekly Women’s Legislative Round Table and just gets better as the day goes by. Join other Leaguers as we get some advocacy work done and then let’s do some serious networking over Italian food! (You must register and pay for lunch ahead of time. Deadline to register is Feb. 1.)
