Dear Speaker Cox,
I hope you will support ERA ratification, and urge you to let this issue go to the floor for a vote. [Or include one of the talking points below.]
After contacting the house speaker or your legislator, report your advocacy: here
Status: Tomorrow, January 22 at 7:30am, the House P&E Committee (Privileges & Elections); [companion Senate bill, SJ284, passed the Senate floor 26-14 on Tuesday and crosses over to the House February 5].
Justification: Women’s rights are not well protected under the constitution–meaning women can still be discriminated against on the basis of sex.
Equality is not a partisan issue and is already clearly reflected in the Virginia constitution. Yet, we do not have strong federal protection. Please send the ERA resolutions to the floor for a vote.
There is strong bipartisan support for the ERA in Virginia. A recent poll (December 2018) by the Wason Center for Public Policy shows that 81% of Virginians support the ERA.
30 communities from both urban and rural, liberal and conservative areas around Virginia have passed resolutions in support of ratification. (If yours is one of them, mention that in your message.)
LWVUS Position: The League of Women Voters of the United States supports equal rights for all under state and federal law.

“Only the President or her designee is authorized to speak for the League.
However, we encourage all members to contact their public officials as individuals, whether or not they agree with a League position.”
