LWV-VA has had a Communications Committee for many years. We have decided that we need to expand the functions of that Committee. Rather than working solely at the state level, we want to better enable local Leagues (LL) to make their own communications as strong as possible. We have been recruiting folks who have an interest in different areas and have different skill sets so that we can provide LLs with the best support we can possibly offer. Each of our members also belongs to the Communications Facebook Group (link below) where we are available to assist LLs with questions/concerns and to share important information.
We are still looking for people interested in serving as members of the team, particularly those with skills related to writing for the press, writing of technical manuals, calendar management, social media management, newsletter editors and designers, and a special group of those interested in graphics to help us to create a resource of some great images to help us promote events and activities. A dedicated “archivist” to manage the files and guides we hope to get published would be a great asset as well. Or, what about being the person to coordinate monthly conference call meetings for the team? If you are interested, regardless of your skills, we can find a place for you. Just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have communications related questions, feel free to send them to the team and we will do our best to help you find the best answer for you and your LL via email at email@example.com.
Those of you who have not done so already, we have a member’s only blog called the Communications Group to which our team members belong that you can join. We answer questions and share important information there. LWV-VA Communications Group
There should be one person in each LL who is a member of that group and can make sure important information gets back to your LL leaders.
Your Communications Team members are:
- Deb Wake – Oversight and Guidance
- Julia Tanner – Action Integration and a variety of other skills
- Leelynn Brady – All things Google including Docs, Forms, Calendar, etc.
- Mary Bull – Webmaster
- Carolyn Caywood – Facebook
- Sherry Zachry – Proofreader and League Policies/Procedures
- Pat Cochran – Cyber Security Specialist
- Carol Lindstrom – Chair, Webmaster, Email Manager, Twitter, Voter Editor, and whatever else needs to be done.
We have hopes of including people or developing people with expertise in managing conference calls, video conference, and webinars. Establishing a collection of photographs that are safe from copyright infringement to share across LLs, and we are open to even more ideas so please let us know what you need and we will try to get it for you.
